For 150 years Melbourne pushed outwards from the CBD to the east and southeast. But from the time the Western Ring Road was completed in the late 1990s the city’s west and north has opened up with new residential estates, as well as with new industrial and commercial facilities connected into the airport via new roads and proposed rail routes.
Add into the mix a re-energised suburbia, driven by the rise of the work-from-home movement, and by the shift towards logistics & transportation centres, and fulfillment centres, and you have a burgeoning sector of Melbourne that will reshape and rebalance the entire city in the 2020s.
